First steps to London 2012?
Sprint stars Laura Burke and Ainsley Campbell were named this week in the 61-strong team that has been selected by the British Olympic Association to represent Team GB at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Tampere, Finland from July 18-25.
The young Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletic Club athletes, who will compete in the 400m hurdles and 400m respectively, could well go to make the senior team for the London 2012 Olympics.
Participating athletes in the 10th EYOF will be between 13 and 16 years old at the 2007 EYOF, GB finished third in the table with a superb haul of nine gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals.
A total of 28 British athletes have represented Team GB at an EOYF and also gone on to compete at an Olympic Games.
