WSEH AC sent a large contingent North over the weekend to contest the National Cross Country Championships in Leeds. The club were well represented in the younger age groups but were sparse on the ground in the Senior events.

Becca Croft once again was the star of the show for the local club adding the bronze award to the gold she won in the Under 13 race in the Southern Championships. She was supported by Eloise Milbourn 93rd, Kathryn Ditton 122nd and Gemma Burgin 175th. The team finished in 12th place.

Jamie Cumins was the surprise best placer for WSEH in the U13 Boys event with 40th place. George Gathercole was a consistent 72nd but Gus Cockle had an off day for his 97th spot. Tom Coe completed the team in 123rd place. The team placed 6th.

WSEH’s biggest contingent toed the line in the U15 Girls event. There was a super run from Ruth Bourne to take 6th place. Emma Croft was next to appear in 60th, with Emma Maurer 72nd and Ellie Wallis completing the team in 134th. Other finishers were; Alice Wills 138th, Jo Fallon 170th, Rosie Adams 172nd and Abbi Schhmid 183rd.
The team finished in 6th place.
Ricky Harvie blasted back to form in the Under 15 Boys race with an excellent 10th place, with Callum Todd in 57th, Henry Suggitt in 147th and Ben Bradley in 157th completing the team that finished in 11th place.

There were also plenty of WSEH runners in the Under 17 Mens race, but it was a long wait before the first WSEH vest appeared, Nathan Ditton finishing in 92nd spot. The next three athletes close packed to complete the team, Khaled Al – Abraidy finishing 164th, Zac Curran 171st, and Jonny Dry 175th. Other WSEH finishers were-Gari Brown 198th, Dan Coe 215th, Nick Cockle 258th, Shane Streeter 259th .
The team were 17th.

In contrast WSEH fielded just one runner in the Under 17 Ladies event, Bex Myers taking 3rd place.

The Under 20 Mens Race saw a dominant run from Alex Tovey who was 11th. Nathan White was a somewhat subdued 64th and Cameron Smart 153rd.

Again there was just one WSEH runner in the Senior Ladies race where Charlotte Firth achieved her best ever placing of 41st.

The Senior Mens race had some 3000competitors. WSEH’s Welsh Cross Country Champion Owain Jones was 56th, Sam Gardner 853rd and Dave Huck 931st.
