WSEH AC athletes were in fine form at Part 1 of the South of England Indoor Championships last weekend emerging with a new meeting record, two gold medals , a silver and a bronze. The new meeting record fell to Dawn hunt in the Senior Ladies 400m where she smashed the existing record by over half a second with her time of 54.85 secs. Nigel Levine made it a Senior 400m double when he coasted through with wins in his heat and semi final to win gold in the final, again with well over a half a second advantage over his chasers.
The silver medal came in the Under 20 Womens 400m where WSEH had two finalists in training partners Laura Burke and Emily Barrett. It was Burke that took the honours with her 2nd place in 58.18secs with Barrett in 5th place in 61.76 secs.
The surprise medal came in the Under 15 Girls 800m where Jo Fallon took the bronze award with her time of 2m31.9.
Of the other WSEH athletes on display, Connor Vine was 4th in his heat of the Under 20 800m in 2m03.79, with Zac Curran 3rd in his heat of the Under 17 800m.
Hurdles specialist showed that he is no slouch over 400m either, finishing just out of the medals in the Under 17 400m in 4th place in a pb of 52.55secs.
