WSEH AC was well represented at the Aviva World Championships Trials at Sheffield over the weekend, with two athletes possibly booking places in the GB Team for the World Indoor Championships in Goa.

Nigel Levine coasted through his heats and semi final of the 400m with victories in both but had to settle for the runners up spot in the final of the 400m in a time of 47.73 secs. In the Ladies 400m it was Dawn Hunt who caught the eye, finishing 2nd in her heat, she took bronze in the Final in 54.66 secs and may have booked a relay place in Goa.

The 60m sprint saw Andy Matthews and Deji Tobais both go out in the semi final stages, both with 4th olaces in times of 6.84 secs and 6.85 secs respectively.

Lawrence Clarke probably just missed out on selection with his 3rd place in the 60m Hurdles Final in 7.78 secs.

Kerry Harty was 8th in the 3000m Final in 9m23.01 secs.

WSEH athletes were also prominent in the field events. New signing Rachel Wallader was 3rd in the Shot with 14m82. Jenny Pacey was just out of the medals in the Long Jump with 5m98. Another jumper Shakira Whight was 6th in the Triple Jump with a seasons best 12m31 and Sophie Upton was similarly placed in the Pole Vault with 3m80. A below par Alan McKie was 10th in the High Jump with 2m02.
