Some 500 plus runners descended upon Upton Court Park, Slough on Saturday for the combined Division 1 and 2 Mob Match in the third of the Apex Sports Chiltern Cross Country League series. WSEH athletes were also out in force resulting in team victories in the Under 17 Mens, Under 15 Boys, Under 13 Boys and Under 20/17 Ladies races.

Senior Mens Race:
For the first time in the series, WSEH were able to field a complete team in the Senior Mens race. Now approaching his form of last year and showing a full recovery from surgery, Owain Jones was the first WSEH athlete home in 4th place. Steve Kimber was not far adrift in 8th. Last year’s champion Nathan White was in 12th place but was the second placed U20 athlete. Ian May produced a sprint finish for his 23rd place. Another U20 athlete, Luke Turton, had perhaps his best league run to date in 47th spot. Yet another U20 athlete Cameron Smart was 74th, just heading veteran Dave Huck in 77th place. More veterans completed the team with Ken Saunders 107th, Paul Ashby 115th and Wal Wessely 130th

Senior Ladies Race:
Best of a strong turn out for the local club was supervet Paula Fudge in 14th place. Yolanda Edwards had a good run for her 21st spot and she was closely followed by Leigh James in 23rd place and Charlotte Firth in 24th to complete the team scoring. Other WSEH finishers were: Lucy Roe 43rd, Janet Binns 44th, Ruth Lingley 61st and Dee Breaden 65th

Under 17 Mens Race:
Elliot Woolmer was the WSEH athlete on form, finishing in 3rd place. Nathan Ditton was another to improve with his 11th place just ahead of Nick Lingley in 12th. Jack Philp completed the team scoring with 16th place. Other WSEH finishers were: Connor Vine 28th, Callum Calvert 31st and Luke Porter 33rd.

Under 20/17 Ladies Race:
Rachel Stedman was the first U20 athlete home albeit in 3rd place in the race. Louisa Lingley was the 2nd placed U20 athlete but 6th in the race, and Hannah Barefield completed the team scoring in 8th place. Other WSEH finishers were: Lois Bond 9th, Melissa Hack 10th, Diane Barac 20th, Sue Ditton 22nd, Jess Wilkinson 26th and Claire Hing 29th.

Under 15 Boys Race:
WSEH have their strongest U15 Boys squad for several years and this was clearly demonstrated on Saturday with all of their scoring team runners finishing in the top 10. Keegan Lymn led the charge with his 2nd place. James Bennington was on his heels in 4th spot, with James Tidd also in touch in 6th. Alex Goodall completed the tream with his 9th place. Other WSEH finishers were; Ben Bradley 14th, Jonny Dry 16th, Gari Brown 27th, John Cousens 28th, James Watson 33rd, Derrice Green 37th, James Porter 41st and Michael Barac 42nd.

Under 15 Girls Race:
There was another big WSEH contingent in this race but without the success ingredient of their boys counterpart. Maryse Haynes was the best of the bunch with her 4th place with Ella Pepper in 8th. There was then a gap however before Naomi Barbour appeared in 16th place and Emma Croft completed the team in 20th place.
Other WSEH finishers were: Verity Kyley 37th, Lauren Mills 38th, Laura Higton 38th, Kerry Gorman 43rd.

Under 13 Boys Race:
There were some highly promising performances from the WSEH athletes in this age group. Kieran Wye was always contesting the lead, eventually taking 2nd place. Jack Rowe showed a big improvement for his excellent 3rd place and Gus Cockle was another to impress with his 6th spot with George Gathercole making sure of a team victory with his 8th place. Other WSEH finishers were; Greg Baynham 11th, Giles Robinson 17th, Dan Dry 18th, Finlay Fulford 27th.

Under 13 Girls Race:
Ellie Wallis proved to be the best of the WSEH squad with her 7th place. Eloise Milbourne was next home in 10th place. New members R. Riches and K Brown were next home to complete the team scoring in 15th and 24th places respectively. Other WSEH finishers were: H. Riches 27th, Olivia Saligoi 35th, Kirsty Butler 40th.

Under 11 Boys Race:
Just 3 WSEH athletes toed the line in this race. Jack Copper was the best of the trio in 16th place, with Jake Adams 25th and newcomer W.Treasure 37th

Under 11 Girls Race:
There was a better WSEH turn out in this race, with 6 WSEH athletes facing the starter. First home was Kathryn Ditton in 4th spot. She was followed by Jamie Marshall in 15th, Aimee Brameld in 20th with Alex Barbour completing the team in 23rd place. Other WSEH finishers were I. Hall 29th, Hope Smith 43rd.

Team Result: 1. Bracknell AC, 2. Chiltern Harriers, 3. WSEH.

The overall match result saw Bedford & County take the honours with the local club WSEH in 2nd spot in a 14 club competition.
