An excellent turnout by the WSEH young athletes compensated for the low WSEH numbers in the Senior races at the opening match in the Apex Sports Chiltern Cross Country League series at Watford on Saturday. WSEH finished 4th overall in the 14 club Div 1 match, behind winners Bedford & County AC. The WSEH best team performance came in the Under 13 Boys events where they emerged as victors. The top WSEWH individual performance was from Keegan Lymn, making his cross country debut for the local club, and he was 2nd in the Under 15 Boys Race. Best female run came from Beccy Croft who was 3rd in the Under 13 Girls race.
Senior Men: WSEH were two short of the necessary 10 to make a team in this event. Best of the WSEH runners was Steve Kimber in 6th place, and with U20 athlete Nathan White 9th (3rd U20 home), Ian May 14th, Owain Jones 15th WSEH were prominent. There was a gap however until U20 athletes Luke Turton(56th) and Cameron Smart(66th) crossed the line. There was a further wait until veterans John Cobb appeared in 162nd place with Paul Ashby 166th

Senior Ladies: WSEH just managed to field the four athletes necessary to complete the team in this race. First to appear was veteran Paula Fudge in 15th place, with two newcomers Charlotte Firth 22nd and Gigi Bettencourt-Gomes 29th and another veteran Ruth Lingley completing the scoring in 60th spot.
Team Result: 1st Milton Keynes AC 260 pts, 7th WSEH 178 pts
Under 17 Men: Nick Lingley in 6th place led the WSEH home, with Elliot Woolmer not far adrift in 9th. Nathan Ditton was next to cross the finish in 16th place and Chris Reilly had his best run to date in 17th place to complete the team. Other WSEH finishers were: 32nd Lewis Sloan, 40th Connor Vine, 45th Callum Calvert, 46th Luke Porter
Team Result: 1st Luton AC 181 pts, 3rd WSEH 160 pts
Under 20/Under 17 Ladies: There was some good running from the WSEH athletes in this race, with Bex Myers in the vanguard in 5th place, Rachel Stedman was hard on her heels in 6th, with Hannah Barefield 10th and Sarah Spears making the team score in 15th place Other WSEH finishers were: 19th Georgia Taylor, 27th Jessica Wilkinson, and 34th Diana Barac.
Team Result: 1st Bedford & County AC 108 pts, 2nd WSEH 99 pts.
Under 15 Boys: A big WSEH turnout by local athletes saw an impressive debut from Kegan Lymn who placed an excellent 2nd. He was chased hard by James Bennington in 6th, James Tidd in 8th and Alex Goodall in 12th completed the team. Other WSEH athletes- 14th Ben Bradley, 18th Gari Brown, 28th Jonny Dry, 29th Rickie Harvie, 42nd John Cousens, 47th James Porter, 48th Wittold Tochowicz, 51st Jamie Barefield, 57th Daniel Ditton, 61st Robbie Partridge, 68th Amar Sumal.
Team Result: 1st Vale of Aylesbury 251 pts, 2nd WSEH 248 pts.
Under 15 Girls: There was a similar commitment from the girls in this age group, with Naomi Barbour leading the team in 9th plasce. Emma Croft was in touch in 10th place, with Maryse Haynes in close attendance in 13th. Rosie Adams completed the team with her 31st place. Other WSEH finishers were: 33rd Laura Suggitt, 38th Verity Kyley, 39th Liadh Troy, 42nd Lauren Mills, 47th Emily Wilkinson, 49th Rebekah King, 59th Laura Higton, 67th Sophie Styles.
Team Result: 1st Bedford & County 257 pts, 3rd WSEH 221 pts.
Under 13 Boys: Kieran Wye led the WSEH team home to victory with his fine 4th place. Jack Rowe in 9th,Henry Suggitt in15th and George Gathercole provided the team support. Other WSEH finishers were: 24th Daniel Dry, 32nd William Brennan, 39th Giles Robinson,. 45th Jack Major, 46th Sammy King, 56th Ben Southgate.
Team Result: 1st WSEH 226 pts
Under 13 Girls: There was another good response by WSEH athletes in this age group. Becky Croft led the charge with her 3rd place, with Abbie Schmid 9th, Ellie Wallis 15thj and Eloise Milbourn 24th making the team. Other WSEH finishers were: 27th Rebecca Riches, 31st Imogen Eddings, 45th Ella Higham, 46th Charlotte Stoate.
Team Result: 1st Bedford & County 277 pts, 2nd WSEH 245 pts.
Under 11 Boys: Most of the WSEH runners in this race were making their club debut. Jack Copper ran well for his 14th place, with Tom Spellman 23rd and Ross Adams 34th.
Team Result: 1st Chiltern Harriers 171 pts, 5th WSEH 112 pts
Under 11 Girls: Another big local representation in this age group saw Kathryn Ditton leading the way home in 4th place. Anna croft was on her heels in 6th, with Eugenie Cockle 9th and Alex Zivanovic 16th. Other WSEH finishers were: 17th Alex Barbour, 32nd Evie Higton, 34th Sophie Lingley, 38th Jessica Judd, 39th Aimee Brafield, 51st Jamie Marshall, 52nd Hope Smith
Team Result: 1st Bracknell AC 211pts 2nd WSEH 200pts.
