Staring relegation in the face, it was not helped that the WSEH Mens B team faced the long trip to Devon for the 4th match in their Southern Mens League Division 1 series. Consequently there were several gaps in the team and it was perhaps not surprising that WSEH again trailed in the 5 club match.
The opening events proved to be the best for the local club. Alan James(44m18) and David Melluish(34m73) scored maximum points in the Hammer and Steve Walker was close to his best with 2nd in the Pole Vault with 4m00. The only win on the track came from Vince Bangs in the 5000m in 17m10.2 and he later re-appeared to take 3rd in the 1500m in 4m32.4. Veteran Danny Hodge was the team stalwart, contesting 5 events, his best result coming in the first, the 400m Hurdles in 62.6 secs.. Another vet Jeremy Tigar was the mainstay of the throwing events, his best coming in the Javelin with 2nd place with 44m69
