  • With one match to go, the youngsters of WSEH finally find themselves at the top of the National Young Athletes League Southern Premier Division, after a top class performance at Norwich resulting in an undefeated season to date and a top place on match points from arch rivals Blackheath & Bromley Harriers. The two meet in the final match of the season at Eton on July 20th. This well deserved victory virtually qualifies them for the main final at Manchester on 7th September.
With several key athletes unavailable through injury and preparation for the English Schools Championships, it was left to the trusted few to fly the flag for Windsor.
In the Under 13 age group, the quartet of David De Villers, Kieran Wye, Gus Cockle and Zain Westbrooke produced 3 wins and a second place to dominate the middle distance events while in the Under 15 age group, 80m hurdlers, Alex Peden and Cameron McRoberts continued their dominance of the event with fine wins. Cameron went on to remain undefeated for the day by winning the 100m B string and helping the sprint relay team to victory. A great days work from a dedicated club athlete.
Other victories in this age group were achieved by Callum Marshall (400m B string), Seamus Burke (200m) Jonathan Dry (1500m B string) Alex Peden (High Jump), Daniel Ditton (Pole Vault B string), Stefan Majek (B Javelin).
Perhaps the find of the day was in the Under 17 Mens age group where new club member, James Gray, a reluctant entrant in the 400m Hurdles, having never previously attempted the event, produced a gutsy run to win on the line. The 1500m event provided the team with double victories by Elliott Woolmer and Connor Vine while another double victory was produced in the 400m by Rikki Letch and Aamir Khan. Nick Lingley produced a truly team spirit performance to run the 800m and the 3000m before gaining valuable points in the javelin and forming part of the quartet that brought the meeting to an end with a victory in the 4 x 400m relay.
David Walker (Pole Vault) increased his PB by 20cm while Mark White continued to shine and improve in the hammer with a fine victory and PB.
