UK Young Athletes League - Sun, 20th July 2008 - TVAC, Eton

In their crucial last match of the series at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre on Sunday, WSEH saw off the challenge of second placed club and last years National Champions, Blackheath & Bromley AC to secure the National Young Athletes League Southern Premier Division title and with it a place in the Finals in Manchester in September. Without doubt this is the strongest team that the local club have been able to field in many years and hopes are high that WSEH can emerge as National Champions in September where they will face the best of the Northern, Midland and Scottish, Welsh and N.Ireland can offer.

Sunday started poorly for WSEH and for a long time they trailed Blackheath, before a string of good field results saw them forge ahead. Despite several disasters, including a dropped baton on the final relay event, the local club held on to win by a margin of some 15 points.

Match score: WSEH 490pts, Blackheath & Bromley AC 475pts, Croydon Harriers 323pts, Hastings AC 192pts
