The WSEH team for the Alder Valley Boys League at Woking suffered loss of athletes to the Southern Championships plus the National Junior League match at Hendon plus absentees caused by the Bank Holiday. It was thus perhaps not surprising that the local club found themselves back in 4th place.

With few U17 athletes present, points were hard to find. Newcomer Taku Muzungo had a promising debut in the 100m with his 13.3 secs for 3rd. Gary Brown was 2nd in the 1500m in 4m26.9. leaving Nick Cockle to win the b string in 4m58.9
Best in the field proved to be Iain Botting with a victory in the Hammer with a pb of 36m68.
There was better representation from the Under 15’s. Mitchell Turner proved the best of the srinters with his 3rd in the 100m in 12.5 secs. Both of the 800m runners demolished their previous best times, to claim maximum points, Jay Fieldmartin clocking 2m12.6 and Ricky Harvie 2m15.6. Mitchell Field made an impessive debut going straight to the top of the rankings with his win in the Hurdles in 13.8 secs and the High jump with a superb 1m72. The Long jump also provided good points with an improved Oliver Carroll taking 2nd with a pb of 4m73 with Michael Christian similarly placed in the b with 4m45
Will Brennan made a significant contribution to the Under 13’s, winning the 800m in 2m28.3, and taking 2nd in the B 200m in 29.0 secs. Giles Robinson was similarly placed in the A 200m in a pb of 28.5 secs. Best of the throws came from Michael Harvey who was 2nd in the Discus with a pb of 18m45. It was this age group that combined best to win the relay in 56.7 secs, Robinson, Brennan, Harvey and Robert Patterson speeding the baton round in 56.7 secs.
