Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletic Club young athletes travelled to Hillingdon Athletics Stadium in Uxbridge to contest the Trophy Final against local rivals Guildford & Godalming, Reading and hosts Hillingdon. As this match is the last track & field event of the season, there were high hopes of repeating last year’s final win. Alas, this was not to be, with the local club running in third, behind Reading in second and Guildford & Godalming the Trophy Winners
U13 Girls
Becca Croft finished her track & field season with yet another club record in the 1000m, coming home second in 3m7.9. Morgan Lake continued her season successes with a PB in the 75m(10.2secs), a league record in the Shot(11.15m) and completed her trio of events by winning the 70m Hurdles in 11.6secs. Olivia Saligoi pipped the A-string athlete, Tilly Compton-Stewart, by the smallest of margins, to win the A-string 600m. Saligoi, with 1m55.0 and Compton-Stewart, 1m55.1, both scoring firsts. Eleanor Boatman continuing to impress in the 70m Hurdles scored a first in 12.5sec. Alejandra Gomez also achieved a first in the Shot with 9m11 a PB. Jessica Judd and Gemma Burgin both found their 150m’s a tough races, however, they was able to pull out PB’s of 22.4secs for Judd and 22.6secs for Burgin. Chantal Banton, Lucy McLaughlan and Briannah Miller-Christie also scored PB’s.
U15 Girls
A mixed bag of results in this age group saw successes in the Long Jump for Georgie Haynes(4m74) and Ana Inverary(4m32). Some PB’s of mention were Harriet Walters in the 200m(29.8secs), Imogen Eddings, stepping into the 1500m with 6m2.6, Hannah James, in the Hammer, with 9m72 and finally Sarah Hing, achieving two in the Shot(5m42) and Discus(16m42). Demi Barrance equaled her PB in the 75m Hurdles with 12.7secs.
U17 Ladies
Some girls of this age group were to be competing for the last time before moving up to the U20’s next season. Some good performance here with Claire Hing securing a first in the Long Jump(4m67). Maria Gomez secured another first and a PB in the Triple Jump(9m30). In the throws, Tara Barrett was successful in the Shot(9m37 PB), Jenny Yoxall had success in the Discus(20m63) with seconds in the Shot(7m81) and Javelin(32m17 PB). Another thrower, Ellie Norris, gained PB’s in the Discus(27m64) and, along with a first, the Hammer(31m53). Sarah Phelps 300m Hurdles was another PB of 54.2secs. Lastly, Charlotte Banks in the 100m, gained a PB with 13.5secs.
WSEH were unfortunate not to repeat their success of last year, but will learn from this experience ready for the start of the 2010 season.
