WSEH athletes were amongst the medal winners at the British Universities & Colleges championships in Bedford over the weekend. Pride of place goes to Rosie Semenytsh who won the Javelin with 47m05. There were two second places amongst the men, both in personal bests. Lawrence Clarke continues to raise his game with almost every outing over the 110m hurdles, this time dipping below the 14 sec barrier with his 13.82secs clocking. Another former Eton College student, Rory Graham- Watson also made his mark with a silver medal in the 800m in a time of 1m51.62 – a massive new best. Shelayna Oskan, last year’s National Schools Champion, was one of the favourites for the 400m. She cruised through the heats and semi final with comfortable victories but could not raise her game in the Final finishing 3rd in 56.47 secs. Vicky Fouhy made the Final of the 800m placing 5th in 2.11.56 secs. Another 5th placer was Shakira Wight in the Long Jump with her 5m58. Jenny Heckford also made the Final of the 100m Hurdles but trailed home in 8th place in 15.16 secs after clocking 14.77 secs in her Heat.
