Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow Athletic Club Senior Mens team shine in the sun
In their attempt to regain their position in Division One of the Southern League, WSEH fielded a young and very talented team together with experienced athletes and the formula appeared to be a great success with the team running out winners in the opening match of the six fixture season. The track athletes dominated proceedings with Mark Holloway and Tom Evans winning their respective 100m and Stewart Challis and Matt Bezzant both smashing their PB;s to win the 400m A & B strings. Victories continued in the 800m when Nick Lingley and Matt Mooney hit the track and Ian May continued the dominance by winning the 1500m. Both High Hurdlers, Jamie East and top Junior decathlete, Ashley Bryant destroyed the opposition to record excellent victories. In the 400m Hurdles it was victory for Ashley Fry in a PB to show the progress he has made under the coaching of Danny Hodge who finished 2nd in the B string. Both Relay Teams also recorded victories. In the Field, Neil Griffin made a welcome return after an enforced absence and in the Long Jump both Mark Holloway and Jamie East leaped to victory as did the two Javelin throwers, Ashley Bryant and Grant Fuller. Not to be outdone, our two Pole Vaulters, Coach Steve McLennan and his young protégé, fifteen year old Charles Smith produced a great performance with the youngster improving his PB by 20cm.
Team Manager, Bryan Goodman, commented that with so many youngsters on show producing early season promise the future now appears bright for both the Junior Mens Team and in the longer term, the Senior Team.
