Some 150 athletes from far and wide converged on the Thames Valley Athletics Centre on Sunday for the second in the WSEH Winter Series of Indoor Meetings with competitors intent on shaking off the effects of Xmas and also to establish marks to ensure their entries into the championships in the months immediately ahead.
There was a strong WSEH contingent present.

60m Sprint
WSEH Long Jump specialist Mark Holloway proved to be the best of the 60m sprinters, topping the Senior Mens event with his 6.95 secs clocking. Another ‘jumps’ specialist Julian Golley clocked 7.36 secs, with yet more ‘jumpers’ heading the younger age groups. David Harvey proved to be the best of the Under 17’s with his 7.41 secs, and newcomer Jonny Sawyers heading the Under 20 clockings with his 7.42 secs. Decathlon specialist Ashley Bryant was also on song with his 7.51 secs for second placing in the U 20 age group.. Hurdler Sam Maguire showed his turn of flat speed to match WSEH’s top sprinter Sean Burke, both clocking 7.61 secs in the U17 event. Georgia.Lamothe was the best of the Under 17 Ladies with her time of 8.01 secs with Georgie Haynes the 3rd placed U15 Girl with her clocking of 8.37 secs. George Butler set a new pb to head the Under 13 Boys lists with his 8.38 secs whilst Morgan Lake was in a class of her own in the Under 13 Girls with 8.49 secs, ahead of Lauren Wilson on 9.21 secs and Alex Hollenbeck on 9.41 secs.

60m Hurdles
There were plenty of WSEH hurdlers in action. Jenny Heckford was 2nd placed in the Senior Age group with 9.00 secs with Harriet Shurley, on the long come back trail after illness, 4th with 10.00 secs.
Charlotte Banks was 3rd placed in the Under 17 category with the same time.
Morgan Lake was again the star in the Under 13 category with her time of 9.90secs whilst Faye Williams headed the U20 Womens list with her time of 9.39 secs.
WSEH athletes were also prominent in the Male races. Multi eventer Matt George was 2nd in the Senior Race in 8.60 secs. Sam Maguire topped the Under 17’s with his 8.80 secs, with training partner Cameron McRoberts in 2nd with 9.70 secs.

Long Jump/Triple Jump
Mark Holloway lead the way in the Senior age group with his 6m75 and Julian Golley was 3rd with 6m58. Ashley Bryant was the best of the Under 20’s with his 6m48, whilst George Butler set another pb to win the Under 13 event with 4m43. Georgie Haynes completed a successful afternoon with her victory in the Under 15 event with 4m97 whilst Lauren Wilson was 2nd in the U13 girls with 3m74

Best of the Triple Jumpers proved to be Shakira Wight with her 3rd placed 11m43

Multi eventer Matt George showed good form to place second in the Senior event with 12m20, ahead of David Shiel’s 4th place with 11m42. The other multi eventer present, Ashley Bryant, was 2nd in the Under 20 event with his 12m75. Morgan Lake scored her 3rd win of the day in the Under 13 Girls with an excellent 9m47, ahead of Alex Gomez, 2nd with 6m53.
