The young athletes of Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletic Club travelled to Reading for the season opener of the Alder Valley Girls League. Finishing off the previous season in third place in the Final, the ambition for this season is to return to winning ways, building on the Clubs previous season’s successes. The match was contested on a dry, blustery cool day. The temperature, however, did not dampen the athlete’s enthusiasm for the new season. With some events left vacant and others competed by athletes helping out in unfamiliar disciplines, the WSEH team prevailed to roll out deserved winners by 37 points to second placed home team Reading. The points tally of 505 points, the best in three years for this first match, augers well for the rest of the season.
