WSEH AC maintained their unbeaten tag in the National Young Athletes Premier West series with a resounding victory in their match at Hendon on Sunday.

This age group was beset with absentees, and all credit is due to those track athletes that filled the gaps in the team by competing in unfamiliar field events. WSEH AC sprinters were on top form with maximum points in the 100m, Foluke Blackett winning with 11.66secs, just heading Kamoal MaCrae on 11.69secs. Blackett went on to secure the double with a win in the 200m in 23.99 secs, but this time partnered by Callum Marshall in 24.57secs.
The 400m saw a fine win from Jordan Thomas in 54.16secs, with Luke Hearn 3rd in 57.11 secs. Callum Todd took a good second in the 800min 1m58.37secs, with Luke Hearn again on the track for 3rd in 2m13.68.. There were similar placings in the1500m from Zac Curran in 4m19.51 and James Watson with 4m43.97. Local athletes dominated the 3000m with Jonny Dry clocking 10.09.56 and Gari Brown 10m33.04 and the trend was repeated in the 1500m Steeplechase where Ricky Harvie won in 4m40.15 with Callum Todd, 2nd in 5m05.37
Infill athletes Ravi Talls and Callum Marshall surprised in the Shot with 2nd and 3rd respectively with 9m50 and 9m45. Marshall was also filling team gaps in the Hammer finishing 2nd with 16m52 behind Iain Botting on 32m46. Ryan Horner was another WSEH winner in the Javelin with 41m41.
Dan Ditton cleared a modest 2m50 to easily win the Pole Vault and Russell Waterson was 2nd in the High jump with 1m70. Best of the horizontal jumps proved to be Luke Holmes 2nd place in the Triple Jump with 11m25.
The local club’s best results on the track came in the 1500m where Rob Hall was 2nd in 4m30.8 and Gus Cockle was 3rd with 4m49.7. Better points accrued in the field events. George Butler won the Long Jump with5m68 and Luke Quinn set a new best for 2nd in the High Jump with 1m70. Taylor Campbell easily won the Hammer with 54m55 with Gurlal Randhawa 3rd on 24m39. Campbell went on to another victory in the Shot, with a pb of 11m29, suprisingly getting the edge over Cameron Crawford on 10m87. Another surprise came in the Javelin where sprinter Callum Blackburn filled a gap that provided a victory with 28m38. Cameron Crawford suffered a rare defeat in the Discus despite throwing 43m39, with Gurlal Randhawa 3rd on 31m32.
Sean Rafique scored heavily with wins in the 100m in 13.39 secs and in the 75m Hurdles in 13.86 secs with Will Dorey 3rd on 16.06 secs. The 800m produced maximum points via new boy Rob Page on 2m39.26 secs and Will Goddard on 2m41.61secs. Joe Carabini blitzed his best in the 1500m to win in 4m53.85 with Michael Beer 3rd in 5m38.78. Tom Spellman’s best came with 2nd in the High Jump with 1m15. Michael Harvey smashed through the 8m barrier in the Shot with a new pb of 8m38 with Bayley Campbell in 2nd on 5m04.
The five relay events saw a total clean sweep by the local club. Foluke Blackett, Kamoal Macrae, Luke Holmes and Shiv Talla sped round in the U17 4x100m in 45.09 zsecs. Callum Blackburn, George Butler, Max Dorey and new boy Kviz Ndewere did likewise in the U15 age group in 48.63secs, whilst the U13 squad of Sean Rafique, Sam Peercy, Will Dorey and Tom Spellman did likewise in 57.41secs.
A fine afternoon for the local club was rounded by more victories in the 4x400m relays. The U15 quartet of Greg Baynham, George Butler, Max Dorey and Kuram Pathak crossed the line in 4m02.27 whilst the U17 team of Zac Curran, Jordan Thomas, Luke Hearn, and Callum Marshal clocked 3m47.47.

The Girls got off to a very good start with Phoebe Jones and Aleksia Zivanovic picking up some useful points in the 70 hurdles taking 2nd and 3rd respectively. Alex Barbour ran strong to win the 800m and in the 1200m, two PBs were recorded with Aleksia being timed at 4m08.16 (13 secs improvement) and Tilly at 4m09.24 (first time at distance). Grace Seymour and Alanna Fagan both ran well despite a strong headwind of (-3.3m/s).
Isabelle Charters continued a excellent form to win the Long Jump and Katie Wellman set a new PB of 3m89 taking 3rd.
Hope White scored well in the High Jump, but it was Amber Godwin who set a new PB of 1m41 to move into the TOP 20 in the UK. This was a 6 cm improvement on her previous best. Solid runs by Isabelle and Ellie Jackson in the 150m kept the points coming in. Ellie then set a new PB in the Shot (7m41) as did Kendall MacDonald (6m82). The 4x100 team of Tilly, Alex, Grace and Ellie set a best time of 57.37 secs to win.
Morgan Lake and Emma Roberts produced good runs with strong headwinds (Morgan taking 1st). Becca Croft set a new best 2m19.23 to win the 800m, while Laura Knowles came close to matching her best in the 800m taking 4th spot. Morgan won again in the 100m with Holly Reed taking 3rd place. Gabriela Zivanovic and Imogen Eddings placed 1st and 3rd in the Discus. Ellie Rayer and Olivia Saligoi took 1st and 4th in the 200m. The same result happened in the Long Jump with Harriet Walters coming out as winner with Mikaela Wright not far off her best jump. Rebecca Riches was a winner in the 1500m setting a new best 5m07.04. Morgan and Gabriela claimed 1st and 3rd in the Shot. Ellie Rayer and Alice Simmonds 23m10 (PB) scored huge points.
A massive 15 cm improvement by Emily Haberfield culminating in a clearance of 1m60 to win the High Jump competition. Harriet Walters equalled her best in 4th (1m30). Olivia, Holly, Ellie and Morgan won the 4x100.
Charlotte Banks and Sarah Hing picked up some valuable points in the hurdles races. Sarah setting a PB 54.61secs to take 2nd in the 300H. Charlotte hadn’t been back in the country long, after her holiday, and helped the team out in a big way by helping score many valuable points in the 80H and the two relays.
Ellie Norris won the Discus and Laura English made sure of maximum points setting a PB 19m62 to take 2nd. Georgie Haynes in her comeback from injury jumped a SB to take 2nd in the Long Jump. Rachel Abebrese helped the team by winning some useful points. Alice Wills ran a 3 sec PB to take 2nd in the 800m. Shalisha Patrick won the 100m very easily. Alice Wills was close to her best in the 3000m and taking 1st, training partner Alyssa Spitzer not far behind in 3rd spot. Ellie Norris won again, this time in the Shot and Laura Murray set a new PB 6m54 taking 3rd place. Ellie completed her hatrick of wins by taking the Discus victory. Laura Murray took 2nd place with a solid performance. Shalisha completed the double by comfortably winning the 200m. A fine double in the 1500m ensured maximum points. Maryse Haynes taking the victory over Naomi Barbour. Alyssa stepped in to help the team in the shot and finished a creditable 2nd in a PB 1m30. Emma Croft took the 300m event with Kijana Richardson having a good run to take 3rd (her first time at the event) 45.98 secs.
Georgie Haynes won the Triple Jump with Sarah Hing taking 2nd in a PB 8m24.
Hannah Johnson and Laura Murray gained big points in the Javelin with 1st and 3rd places. The 4x300 team of Charlotte, Alyssa, Alice and Emma took 2nd place in a best this season 3m09.38.
