WSEH athletes were dominant in the Surrey Schools Cross Country Championships. Pride of place went to Eugenie Cockle who headed 150 girls in the Primary Schools race, crossing the line well clear of her chasers. New members Tara De Klerk and Nancy Scott were 7th and 8th respectively and Evie Higton was 18th.
There were a similar number of starters in the Boys race with Joe Brown returning in 14th place.
The Year 7 girls event saw Kathryn Ditton the best of the WSEH trio in 7th, with Lucy Maurer 13th and Lauren Miller 33rd. In the Boys, Will Goddard was 43rd.
There was a good WSEH contingent in the Junior Girls race with Eloise Milbourn proving the best of the bunch in 14th place. She was closely followed by Abbi Schmid in 18th and Jo Fallon in 22nd. Other finishers were 46th Sophie Sutherland, 52nd Alice Turner, 53rd Natasha Carr.
Best of the Inter girls was Emma Maurer in 12th, with Alice Wills close at hand in 17th. Emily Wilkinson was 41st and Laura Higton 45th.
The Junior Boys race again saw Gus Cockle in the vanguard of the WSEH athletes, coming home in 5th place. Tom Coe gave chase in 13th, just heading James Cumins in 15th and Henry Suggitt in 16th. Other WSEH runners were George Gathercole in 35th and Greg Baynham in 37th.
WSEH’s biggest contingent of the day was in the Inter Boys event where Ben Bradley had perhaps his best run of the winter to finish 3rd. Zac Curran(6th) and Callum Todd(8th) also made the top 10. Other WSEH finishers were: 24th Gari Brown, 27th Jonny Dry, 34th Dan Coe, 25th James Watson, 38th Nick Cockle.
The final race of the day, the Senior Boys, again saw WSEH athletes in the frame with Elliott Woolmer in 3rd, Nathan Ditton 4th and Shane Streeter 15th.
