The young athletes of WSEH AC had a decisive win over close rivals Harrow AC and Shaftesbury Barnet AC in the second in their National Young Athletes League Southern Premier match at Hendon on Sunday

WSEH AC totally dominated the opening hurdles races, building a lead that was never challenged throughout the rest of the match. Sam Maguire was in a class of his own in the U17 men 100m Hurdles, winning in 14.13 secs. some 1.5 secs clear of the rest. He went on to complete the double by taking the 400m Hurdle event in 56.7 secs. In the U13 age group, Will Dorey(15.79scs) and Delza Brown (15.9 secs) took maximum points.
Zac Curran took off from the gun in the U17 800m to win with ease in 1.58.6.
Best of the sprinters tuned out to be Sean Rafique in the U13 age group with a winning 100m/200m double in 13.61secs/28.42secs.
THE WSEH AC athletes proved unbeatable across the board in the 1500m races. Ricky Harvie set the trend in the U17 winning in 4m20.1 with Callum Todd in tow on 4m25.27.Kieran Wye was never headed in the U15 race in 4m33.6 secs with Charlie Critchley in his wake in 4m37.21. George Bourne completed the treble with a victory in the U13 race in 5m20.6.
There were some good runs in the longer distance races. Dan Coe was 2nd in the U17 3000m in 10m14.7 whilst Jonny Dry and James Tidd were well to the fore in the Steeplechase in 5m2.16 and 5m2.75 respectively.
The High Jump was similarly dominated by WSEH athletes with personal bests galore. Mitchell Field(1m83) and Russell Waterson(1m72) produced maximum points in the U17 event and Luke Quinn also won the U15 event in a pb of 1m60. George Bourne maintained the trend, winning the U13 event with 1m30
The throwing events also proved high points earners. Taylor Campbell set a new pb of 52m85 in the U15 Hammer and Cameron Crawford did likewise in the U15 Discus with 45m14. He was ably supported by Gurlal Randhawa who took 2nd with 30m15. Crawford went on to record another pb in the Shot with 12m70 There were 2nd places in the Javelin for Morgan Jury in the U17 with 41m65 and for Findlay Fulford in the U15 with 30m30.
The relay races saw more wins for the WSEH athletes. The U17 4x100m squad of Sam Maguire, Kamoal MaCrae, Mitchell Turner and Seamus Burke combined in 46.06 secs, whilst in the 4x400m Zac Curran, Callum Marshall, Ricky Harvie and Jordan Thomas won in 3m40.54

Isabelle Charters was in great form winning the sprint double in the 75m/150m (21.37 pb in the latter), also placed 2nd in the Shot with 6.33 (pb).
Gemma Burgin sliced 23 seconds off her PB winning in 2.36.68, training companion Tilly Compton-Stewart finished 2nd in a PB (2.40.27).
Further PBs came in the 1200m through Alex Barbour 1st (4.05.22) and Felicity Johnson (4.11.73). The hurdles double act of Phoebe Jones (pb 13.21) and Aleksia Zivanovic (pb 13.33) continued with another 1st and 2nd place finish.
The 4x100 relay team came 1st (Isabelle, Grace Seymour, Gemma and Hope White).
Morgan Lake continued her winning form by taking 1st places in the 100m, HJ and LJ. Steph Clitheroe came 2nd in the 100m and took 1st place in the 75H. Becca Croft had another good win in the 800m. Ellie Rayer came 2nd in the 75H and won the Javelin. Emily Haberfield finished 2nd in the HJ.
Gabriela Zivanovic was also in fine form by taking 2nd in the Discus and by winning the Shot.
The 4x100 won their relay (Ellie, Morgan, Holly Reed and Steph).
Kijana Richardson ran well to place 2nd in the 100m. Rosie Adams claimed a PB 2.33.06 to win the 800m and also placed 2nd in the 300m. Hannah Widgington took 2nd spot in the 800m also with a PB 2.33.19. Emma Croft took a good 2nd place in the 1500m and Alice Wills yet again had a very good run in the 3000m winning in a PB 10.57.37.
Sarah Hing competed in the 300H for the first time and paced it very well. She also contested the Javelin and Shot events and gained some valuable points.
Alyssa Spitzer on top of her 3000m event also helped the team by taking some useful points in the Hammer and Discus.
Victoria Harding has comeback from a lengthy injury and posted some good performances in the 80H, HJ and LJ events. Lily-Mae Fisher won the Pole Vault, Ellie Norris won the Discus and Hammer and placed 2nd in the Shot and Hannah Johnson claimed 1st place in the Javelin.
Both the U17 relays came 2nd.
At the end of the meeting, we said our goodbyes to the Gomez family who have been with the club for three years. Alejandra, Maria and Ana have been valued members of the team since they joined us. The family are leaving us for the USA and we wish them all the very best for the future.
