Some 200 athletes from far away as Sheffield, Cornwall and Kent converged upon the Thames Valley Athletics Centre on Sunday to test their winter training and to gain qualifying marks for the forthcoming area and national indoor championships.
There was good representation from WSEH athletes with many of them figuring in the leading places.
60m Sprint
It was WSEH athletes in the younger age group that grabbed the honours in this event. In the Under 20 age group Jonathan Sawyers 2nd placed with 7.25secs, Ravi Talla 3rd with 7.28 and Tom Evans 4th in 7.30secs. Taku Muzungu went one better in the U17 category winning in 7.37secs, with Kamoal McRae 2nd in 7.43 secs and Lewis Bridges 3rd in 7.52secs. Max Dorey was 2nd in the U15 Boys in 8.78secs and Michaael Harvey was the front runner in the Under 13 age group with his 8.75 secs.
Amongst the Ladies, Chinedu Monye was 3rd placed in the Senior category in 7.82secs with Chloe Mays leading the way in the Under 20 age group with 8.21secs with Natalie Beale 2nd on 8.34secs. Olivia Caesar the best of the U15 Girls with her 8.21secs clocking.

60m Hurdles
Sam Maguire was the outstanding performer in this event, winning the Under 17 event in 8.47secs, half a second ahead of his chasers. Decathlon specialist Matt George was the 4th best of the Senior Men in 8.42secs whilst at the other end of the age spectrum Max Dorey was 3rd in the Under 13 Boys in 11.66secs.
WSEH athletes figured highly in the Senior Ladies event with Jenny Heckford 2nd in 9.24secs and Harriet Shurley 3rd in 9.44secs.
In the Under 20 Ladies Natalie Beale was 3rd placed in 9.57 secs. The U17 Ladies race saw Charlotte Banks (9.62secs) just getting the edge over Eleanor Duck in 9.70secs. In the Under 15 Girls category it was a straight 1,2 for WSEH athletes – Stephanie Clitheroe taking the top honours with 9.29 secs and Morgan lake on 9.52secs.

Shot
The best performance by a WSEH athlete in this event came in the Under 15 Girls age group where Morgan Lake’s 11m06 was more than a metre and a half further than the next athlete. with Alex Gomez in 4th place on 8m81. Ellie Norris grabbed third spot in the Under 17 category with 8m19.
Amongst the males, Matt George was 4th of the Senior Men with his 12m15 whilst Alan Martin won the Under 15 with 8m48.
Triple Jump
It was good to see Jonathan Sawyers injury free and winning the Under 20 category with 13m98. Oliver Carroll in his first venture into the event was 2nd in the Under 15 event with 9m51. Shakira Wight contested the Senior Ladies, coming 3rd in 11m69.
Long Jump
Some 40 plus athletes contested this event, stretching resources to the maximum. Jenny Pacey proved to be the best of the WSEH, athletes winning with 6m07. Jonathon Sawyers was back in action taking 2nd in the U20 category with 6m15, ahead of Kieron Moss, making his WSEH debut, with 3rd in 6m02. Lewis Bridges was 2nd in the U15 with his leap of 5m24 whilst Georgie Haynes was the best of the WSEH athletes in the U15 event with her 3rd place in 4m74
