WSEH athletes were in dominant form at Part 1 of the South of England Indoor Championships at Lee Valley on the weekend emerging with 5 Southern Champions and 3 other medallists. Former international Lesley Owusu looks to be bouncing back to form in Olympic year to win the Senior Ladies 400m in 55.49secs.. Sophie Papps, who swept all before her last year, continued where she left off in 2011, by winning the Under 20 200m in 24.99secs. New signing Laura Farrer showed her pedigree by winning the U20 800m in 2m24.78secs.
It was a WSEH double in the U20 High jump with Mitchell Field in pole position, and Russell Waterson in the silver spot, both with a 1m90 clearance.
Muli-eventer Celia Quansah also struck gold in the Under 17 Pentathlon with her marks of – 60mH 9.08secs, High Jump 1m53, Shot 10m38, 800m 2m38.88.
There was a silver medal for Katja Eravisto in the Senior Ladies 800m in 2m14.77, and a bronze for another new WSEH signing, Jacob Paul in the 400m in 50.02secs. Other WSEH finalists were: Jess McCabe(58.92secs) and Emily barrett(59.87secs) both in the Under 20 400m.
