SEAA Championships - Lee Valley Stadium - Sat 19th - Sun 20th Jan 2008

WSEH grabbed medals galore at the South of England Indoor Championships at Lee Valley, Enfield on the weekend and none more so than the Club’s hurdlers. In the U20 60m Hurdles event WSEH provided the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed athletes in Rose Reynolds(8.98secs), Jenny Heckford(9.03secs) and Chanel Taite(9.08secs). In the Under 17 Age group it was Catherine Hall-Jones that took the silver medal with 8.98secs with Faye Williams in 4th place in 9.03secs. There were more WSEH finalists in the Boys Under 15 event – Sam Maguire placing 4th in 9.43secs and Cameron McRoberts 5th in 9.78secs.

There were also some excellent performances from the WSEH jumpers on display. Mark Holloway took silver in the Senior Mens Long Jump with 6m90 and Jenny Pacey gained a medal of he same hue in the Senior Ladies event with her 5m78. It was another silver in the Under 20 Mens High Jump for Cameron Lake with his 2m00 clearance. There was also a surprise bronze for Steve Walker in the Under 20 Pole Vault with a 3m40 clearance.

In the Under 17 300m Leah Barrow missed gold by the thickness of a vest, having to settle for silver in the same time as the winner -41.67 secs – a championship best performance.
