Some thirty WSEH AC youngsters made the short trip to Bracknell on Saturday to compete in the Bracknell AC Young Athletes Open Meeting.

Star performer was James Badham who notched a winning double in the Under 15 100m (12.22secs) and 200m (24.97secs). Joseph Caesar was another sprint winner in the U13 100m in 1`4.16secs.

Laurie Sutcliffe just missed top spot in the 80m Hurdles with his 2nd place in 14.16secs.

Another WSEH hurdler to shine was Abby Masquelier who won the U15 Girls 70m Hurdles in 11.92secs, with Isla Brown in 3rd place on 13.43secs. Alissia Merry was another 3rd placer, this time in the 200m in 28.02secs.

The Female Field Events provided more success. Liliana Burn won the U15 Discus with 23m74 and then went on to place 3rd in the Hammer with a pb of 31m44. Another WSEH Hammer thrower to make her mark was Francesca Williams who placed 2nd in the U17 event with a distance of 49m26.

This week sees the start of the Commonwealth Games in Australia with six WSEH athletes in international action. Ashley Bryant contests the Decathlon, Morgan Lake the High Jump, Rachel Wallader the Shot, Shelayna Oskan-Clarke the 800m, Jacob Paul the 400m Hurdles and Ben Reynolds the 110m Hurdles.
