Shortage of athletes saw WSEH AC struggle to field teams in several of the age groups in the opening Chiltern Cross country League Match at Oxford on Saturday.
There were however some good individual results – none more so than that of Dominic McDougall who returned to form to finish 2nd in the Under 17 race in 18m18secs. The only other WSEH athlete to face the starter in this race was Joseph Clarke who finished 57th in 25m09.
Charlotte Firth was another to make her mark, finishing in 4th place in the Senior Ladies race in 21m32. Not far adrift was Jenny Ball with her best run to date in 7th place in 21m45. Alice Flint also provided good support with her 12th place in 22m22 with Juliet Soane 30th in 24m24. Natalie Thompson was also in touch with her 38th place in 25m08, with Lauren Wye completing the WSEH representation in 85th place – there were 220 finishers.
The U20/U17 Ladies race saw Daisy Schotting-Robinson the first to appear in 17th place in 15m35, with Kate Thompson on her heels in 18th in 15m43. Lily Schotting Robinson was next home in 27th place in 16m18, with the WSEH team being completed by Lily Porter – 50th in 18m07.
Just two WSEH athletes faced the starter in the U15 Boys event with James Palmer 27th in 12m16 and Ryan Rickards 72nd on 14m16.
Things improved in the U15 Girls race where 3 WSEH athletes toed the start line, Isabelle Haycock was 42nd in 15m01, Isabelle Spencer 58th in 15m59 and Izzy Thompson 61st with 16m05.
It was a WSEH trio that also contested the U13 Boys race with Oliver Layfield returning in 39th place in 11m12, with Felix Palmer 60th in 11m47 and Sam Clarke 104th on 18m39.
Just two WSEH athletes contested the U13 Girls race – Madeleine Rae finishing 29th in 12m18 and Sophie Hutching 53rd in 13m01.
