Club Achievements 2018

WSEH’s three athletes competing in the World Junior Championships in Finland, all performed with distinction. Jake Norris won the Hammer event with a new GB Junior Record of 80m65 whilst Bayley Campbell also made the Final finishing in 6th place with a best of 71m28. Alex Haydock-Wilson was the lead off runner in the GB 4x400m Relay which took the bronze medal.


Following their recent victories in the National Championships, Morgan Lake (High Jump) and Megan Marrs(100m Hurdles) have been selected to compete for the UK in the World Cup competition next weekend in London.
WESH have four athletes competing in the World Junior Championships this week in Finland. Jake Norris and Bayley Campbell both compete in the Hammer whilst Alex Haydock-Wilson is selected for the 4x400m relay. 2nd Claim WSEH member Josh Zeller will tackle the 110m Hurdles.

UK Womens League Premier Division – Edinburgh

British Championships and World Cup Trials – Birmingham
WSEH AC were well represented in the British Athletic Championships at Birmingham over the weekend with 20 athletes attempting to secure a place in the UK team for the World Cup.

WSEH AC totally dominated the 3rd match in their Southern League Div 1 series finishing some 70 points ahead of the second placed club.

Out of the 34 event programme WSEH provided 43 individual winners, with A and B winners in 17 of the events thus delivering maximum points.

National Under 23/Under 20 Championships – Bedford
WSEH AC dominated the National Under 23/Under 20 Championships at Bedford over the weekend emerging with 5 National Champions and 6 athletes in the silver or bronze medal positions.
Pride of place goes to Jake Norris, who only returned from his university in the USA 3 days previously. He set a new National Record in the Under 20 Hammer with a throw of 80m45, which ranks him No 2 in the World this year. In the silver medal position was Bayley Campbell who set a pb of 73m42.

British Athletics League Div 1 – Portsmouth
With a number of key athletes unavailable WSEH AC were hard pressed to make an impact in the second of their British Athletics League Div 1 match at Portsmouth on Saturday - finishing in 6th place in a closely fought match.
