A clash of fixtures saw numbers well down on previous years for the opening competition in the WSEH Indoor Open Winter Series at TVAC on Sunday. Nonetheless the meeting attracted athletes from as far afield as Manchester and Sheffield together with the usual complement of local athletes.
In the 60m sprints, Multi Eventer Tom Reynolds was the best of the WSEH athletes with his 2nd place in Race 2 in 7.33 secs. Hurdles specialist Laurie Clarke proved to be the best of the U20 athletes present with his win in Race 4 in 7.44 secs. Sadiq Kamugisha was 3rd placed amongst the U17 Men with his time of 7.63secs.
Amongst the ladies, Laura Betts- Bucke was the best of the Senior Women with her time of 8.28 secs. whilst Lesley Frankfort was the top of the U20 Ladies with her 8.64 secs and Sarah Phelps led the U17 Ladies with her 8.75 secs. Karimah Muhammad was the best placed amongst the Under 15 Girls with her impressive 8.23 secs

The 60m Hurdles races saw some good performances from the WSEH athletes on display. Matt Field (8.60 secs) just edged Tom Reynolds ( 8.75 sec) in Race 2 whilst Laurie Clarke was a clear U20 winner in Race 3 in 8.42secs.
