Some 150 athletes from as far afield as West Cornwall and Norfolk made their way to the Thames Valley Athletics Centre on Saturday for the 3rd in the WSEH Winter Indoor Series.
WSEH had good representation throughout the age groups. Fastest in the 60m proved to be Long jump specialist Mark Holloway who was second in the Senior event in 6.97 secs. Dan James was 5th fastest of the Under 20 men with his 7.38secs whilst Ainsley Campbell was 2nd fastest of the Under 17 Men in 7.43 secs with David Harvey 6th in 7.59secs. Seamus Burke also looks to be wintering well and he was 3rd amongst the Under 15 boys with his 7.66 secs. Glen Reddington was the best of the Veteran Men with his time of 7.68 secs. Triple Jumper Karlene Turner brushed up her speed to good effect being the second fastest Senior Lady on display with her 7.72 secs. A Noble was the 5th fastest in the Under 17 Ladies category with her 8.69 secs. In the Under 13 Girls Age Group Anastasia Inverary was 4th fastest with 9.21secs.
In the 60m Hurdles Glen Reddington was the best of the Vet Men in 8.94 secs. Kyle Hodge improved to 9.03 secs for 2nd in the Under 17 Men. Sam Maguire was 1st in the Under 15 boys in 8.89 secs with Cameron MacRoberts 3rd in 9.69 secs. Amongst the Ladies, coach Jo Wade, was 3rd in the Vet category with 11.04 secs. Catherine Hall-Jones was the best of the Under 17’s with 8.89 secs and Rachel Westbrook was 3rd in the Under 15 girls with 11.11 secs.
There was just one WSEH athlete in the Pole Vault, Steve Walker, winning the senior Men event with 3m20. In the High Jump Alex Matthew jumped to a new p.b. of 1m50 in winning the U15 Boys category with Joe Rockell 2nd with 1m35. Kay Murphy was the best of the vet Ladies with her 1m15, whilst Anna Stansbury and Emma English were 2nd and 3rd respectively in the U17 Age group with 1m45 and 1m35 respectively.
