WSE & HOUNSLOW LADIES START SOUTHERN LEAGUE SEASON WITH A BANG!
With two ‘warm weather’ coaching groups from the local club stranded in Tenerife and Portugal as a result of plane cancellations, there were several gaps in the WSEH team that contested the opening match off the National Junior (U20) League Premier Division at Hendon on Sunday. Despite this handicap, the team produced a series of good performances to achieve a commendable third place in the match.

WSEH placed 26th in the National 12 stage Road Relay event in Birmingham on Saturday, an improvement on their showing in the Southern event.Best of the long stage was international Benedict Whitby who brought the team home in 12th place on the opening leg in 26m34 and top of the short stagers was Lee Reynolds on the 2ng leg with 10th place in 14m59.

Andy Clements almost achieves the impossible
With the National Road Relays in Birmingham on the same day, the National Junior League the next day and several athletes stranded abroad due to the Iceland volcanic ash incident, it was always going to be difficult to select a full team. However, with the welcome return to the arena, after a two year enforced absence through injury of Mens Club Captain Andy Clements, doing 9 events, the near impossible was achieved when we finished second.
The young athletes of Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletic Club travelled to Reading for the season opener of the Alder Valley Girls League. Finishing off the previous season in third place in the Final, the ambition for this season is to return to winning ways, building on the Clubs previous season’s successes. The match was contested on a dry, blustery cool day. The temperature, however, did not dampen the athlete’s enthusiasm for the new season.
With the summer track season fast approaching a number of youngsters from WSEH chose to test their winter training at the Bracknell AC Young Athletes Meeting on Saturday. The rain detracted from the occasion but there were still some medal winning achievements
