AUTUMN NEWS - March 2010 - From Club Secretary Dennis Daly
SUMMARY – WINTER SEASON
WSEH AC received a tremendous boost this week with a notification from UK Athletics that they had been awarded Top UK Club status in 3 of 5 categories based on the National Individual Ranking lists for 2009.
WSEH were top ranked in the Speed category covering the Sprints and Hurdles and the Throws category covering Shot, Discus, Hammer, and Javelin.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, in view of these top ranking in two of the categories, WSEH also received the final and most prestigious accolade as Top Club Overall in the UK.
As you might be aware I am running the London Marathon on the 25th April 2010.
My son, Daniel, has autism so as well as running for the Club, I have decided to try and raise money for the Berkshire Autistic Society.
This charity helps and supports people afffected by autism.

Some 130 athletes from as far afield as Leeds and Southampton descended upon the Thames Valley Athletics Centre on Sunday for the final competition in the WSEH AC Winter Indoor Series. Athletes from the local club were in good form which bodes well for the summer season now just some 6 weeks away.
WSEH AC sent a large contingent North over the weekend to contest the National Cross Country Championships in Leeds. The club were well represented in the younger age groups but were sparse on the ground in the Senior events.
Becca Croft once again was the star of the show for the local club adding the bronze award to the gold she won in the Under 13 race in the Southern Championships. She was supported by Eloise Milbourn 93rd, Kathryn Ditton 122nd and Gemma Burgin 175th. The team finished in 12th place.
At the weekend athletes from WSEH AC added two more national titles and a host of minor medals to those won at the Senior championships a couple of weeks ago.
