WSEH have two athletes named in the GB Team to contest the World Indoor Championships in Goa, India. Nigel Levine and Dawn Hunt have both been selected for their respective 4x400m relay squads.
The committee of the British Athletics Supporters Club has chosen Rikki Letch to be the recipient of its Male Young Athlete Award based on his outstanding performances in 2009
The re-scheduled Bucks Cross Country Championships on Saturday produced yet more honours for WSEH athletes. Prime position was occupied by Alex Goodall in the Under 17 Mens Race who took the title. Kieran May was also in good form with a silver medal in the Under 15 Boys Race and Heather Riches claimed a bronze in the Under 13 girls event. Sister Heather Riches was just out of the awards in the Under 15 Girls race with a 4th place, just ahead of Sophie Street in 5th. Maryse Haynes was another just out of the hunt with her 4th in the Under 17 Ladies.
WSEH AC had an excellent result from the re-arranged Surrey AA Championships at Lloyd Park in Croydon today, with 2 individual medals, 2 winning teams and a second placed team.
WSEHs sole athlete in the Senior Women's event, Sophie Morris, was victorious by nearly a minute after a show of excellent front running.
Despite a number of athletes deciding to give the final match in the series a miss in view of the imminent National Cross Country Championships, WSEH had done enough in the earlier round to guarantee team medals in 6 of the Age categories.
Top award came in the U20 Mens section where WSEH took the gold team medals.
There were silver team medals in the U17 Men, U13 Boys and U13 Girls and bronze awartds for the U17 Ladies and U 15 Boys.
WSEH AC was well represented at the Aviva World Championships Trials at Sheffield over the weekend, with two athletes possibly booking places in the GB Team for the World Indoor Championships in Goa.
Nigel Levine coasted through his heats and semi final of the 400m with victories in both but had to settle for the runners up spot in the final of the 400m in a time of 47.73 secs. In the Ladies 400m it was Dawn Hunt who caught the eye, finishing 2nd in her heat, she took bronze in the Final in 54.66 secs and may have booked a relay place in Goa.
